Blue Velvet

I'm loving Topshop's clothes at the moment - it's all so christmassy!  I decided to make my own winter themed top using this really lovely blue velvet. I kept it very basic (I think it took me a maximum of 1 hour...) so that I'd be able to mix and match it easily with my different skirts. The skirt I'm wearing here, I bought from New Look last year.

2 years of blogging

So I've actually been blogging for just over 2 years now (how time flies...!). Admittedly my blog reading has been lacking a bit a huge amount over the past year compared to back in the day when I'd just started up....(I must have had a lot more time on my hands back then!), but I've kept up with documenting my outfits and anything that I've made, and here are some of my favourites...

Winter

Ok so this might not be the most exciting outfit, and showing a pair of jeans on my blog (or even wearing them in real life) is a very rare occurrence for me but since it's been getting a lot colder recently I thought it would be a good idea to invest in a pair. I say invest...but I think I only spent about £15 on them (I found them on ebay but they're originally from Topshop so well worth the price I think). Also new in is this mint coat. Another ebay purchase, and I'm in love. The fur, the colour, just everything.

Art Foundation: receipt dress

This is a slightly different post as it features my friend, Libby, wearing one of my final outcomes for my Art Foundation course. The really short project (about 2 weeks) involved making 2 accessories based around our research of Surrealism, and using things which are 'destined for the dustbin'. I made one necklace out of wires, and then this bag out of old receipts. As I really need to bulk up my portfolio, I decided to make this dress to go with it. If you're interested in how I made it (or if not stop reading now!), I created my own panelled pattern for the top on which the middle I printed (just using a standard printer haha) and the side panels I actually stitched together some receipts and covered it with a plastic fabric, on to which I ironed to create the cool black ombre effect.

Halloween

As I went out for Halloween last night, I did try to make a bit of an effort to dress up (I'm not good with fancy dress...!) which involved wearing this black dress and dip-dyeing/chalking my hair green (most of it's washed out now though so you can't really tell in these photos). This dress was an absolute bargain, I found it on ebay (I think it was around the £5 mark) but it's originally from American Apparel. It's always handy to have a black dress in your wardrobe, and as it was at such a great price I just had to buy it.

AX Paris dress

I had a really good time on tuesday when I went to see the Jonathan Ross show recording - Daniel Radcliffe was on it...so that was pretty exciting (especially since I've probably seen the Harry Potter films about a thousand times!).
Anyway, I bought this dress on ebay for £4.50 as I wanted a day dress that would be easy to just throw on in the morning when I'm not feeling up for my usual skirt/top combo. Winter is definitely here now, and so are the black tights...!

Lace and pleats

This is actually what I'm going to wear tomorrow to a concert for Eliza and the Bear. I'd spent so long and had many failed attempts at finding this American Apparel skirt on ebay at a reasonable price, so in the end I gave up my search and decided to make one instead. So here is the finished result....Although my original plan was to do smaller pleats, I kind of messed it up by cutting out the wrong sized pieces, but I actually think it turned out quite nice with the bigger pleats anyway. Along with this, I found this lace top in the charity shop the other day for £4.50, and of course I'm wearing my new favourite boots from Office.

Floral dress

It finally stopped raining for 10 minutes today so I could take these photos. Unfortunately, because of my terrible organisational skills this dress is about a month too late so you'll just have to pretend it's still summer, ok!? Anyway, so I made this dress from this incredible floral fabric. It was a bit too overpowering on it's own so I added grey panels on the sides (something new but I actually really enjoyed doing it) and then finally a lining. Pretty pleased and I can't wait to wear it (even if it isn't until next summer...!).
